The legal immigration process is long, expensive, excruciating, and often overwhelming. For those with extenuating circumstances on top of the baseline battle, it can seem insurmountable. While it is not a legally required addition, including a mental health evaluation when presenting a case has been shown to be highly effective.
Stacy's process is extensive and involves two hour-long sessions with the client and a thorough, trauma-informed 10+ page report. With this approach, the assessment is tailored to the particular needs of each case, including:
Asylum Cases - Detailing how PTSD symptoms provide evidence of the persecution they suffered; explaining psychological reasons why a client missed the one-year filing deadline.
Extreme Hardship Cases - Identifying unique factors contributing to a client’s psychological distress such as: illness; disability; professional, financial, or academic hardship; or adverse home-country conditions that would affect the petitioner or their family members.
VAWA Cases - Detailing the client’s psychological symptoms which are common for domestic violence victims; assessing credibility; and where useful, explaining less common phenomena such as ways in which men are abused by female partners.
U-Visas/T-Visas - Documenting the extent of mental abuse and psychological distress affecting the petitioner as a direct result of being a victim of a documented crime.
Evaluation sessions are able to be held in person or via videoconference. For clients’ convenience, Enso Counseling & Wellness, LLC accepts credit cards, provide payment plans, and is able to connect with interpreters. Evaluations are guaranteed within two weeks of the second session, with expedited turnaround available for additional cost.
